CDOC Announces Expansion to New Jersey Motorsports Park
May 22, 2008 – Millville, NJ and Gordonsville, VA
CDOC today announced the expansion of its retail store business to New Jersey Motorsports Park, scheduled to open in August 2008. CDOC, which operates the Oak Tree Pro Shop at Virginia International Raceway, will operate two separate retail stores at New Jersey Motorsports Park, the most significant new Motorsports development on the Eastern seaboard in decades. With two distinct and separate road courses, a kart racing center, a country club-style clubhouse and a planned 180 residential villas on site, NJMP will host thousands of participants per year, from professional racing series to local and regional automotive and motorcycle clubs. NJMP will host five ticketed spectator events in its inaugural season, 2008, including the Grand-Am Rolex and KONI Series, ARCA RE / MAX Series, Mazda’s Formula Zoom Zoom and the SCCA Speed World Challenge Series, hosting an anticipated 100,000 spectators.
VIR’s Oak Tree Pro Shop has been a huge success for both CDOC and the track, satisfying the need for racing equipment and safety gear for participants and branded gear and apparel for spectators. CDOC will occupy two separate locations at NJMP – a shop in the main concession building and another in the kart center. CDOC’s New Jersey operations will augment a strong and growing business, including a 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Gordonsville, multiple bricks-and-mortar retail shops and two 53-ft. mobile Trackside sales and service trailers.
Harvey Siegel, co-owner of Virginia International Raceway and one of the principal investors in NJMP, said, “We’re thrilled to announce CDOC as the operator of the retail facilities at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Colin Dougherty and CDOC have built a great business at VIR, and they’ll be a perfect addition to NJMP as we open for business this summer. NJMP was designed as a world-class racing facility for its members, professional and amateur racing participants and spectators, and CDOC’s presence will mean they’ll be well equipped. CDOC helps us add another fantastic customer service to our project, and we’ll aim to help them replicate their success at VIR up in New Jersey.”
CDOC CEO Colin Dougherty said, “When Harvey approached me about the possibility of expanding to New Jersey Motorsports Park, my interest was quickly piqued. Because of its proximity to Philadelphia – my hometown – I know the kind of built-up demand there is in the region for this type of facility. Combined with the success we’ve had together at Virginia International Raceway, it was just a matter of drawing up plans for the scope of the shops at NJMP. CDOC is excited to operate the retail presence at NJMP, and to be the official licensed goods provider for the track.”
New Jersey Motorsports Park opens for business in late July of 2008, and the first spectator event will be held August. The 2008 calendar includes:
- SVRA Historics – August 7-19
- Shelby American Automobile Club – August 15-17
